Our Story
A Pharmacy That Grew From a Simple Idea: Care First
Liberty Pharmacy opened its doors in 2017, founded by Dr. Jim Parekh with a clear mission: to deliver healthcare that feels like home. After years of working in hospitals and large chains, Jim envisioned a pharmacy that wasn’t just about prescriptions—it was about people.
From day one, Liberty has focused on building personal relationships with each customer who walks through our door. Whether it’s remembering your child’s name, asking how your recovery is going, or making sure your refill is ready before you even ask—we believe care should feel personal.

Brian Richey
Pharm. D. / Lead Pharmacist
Brian joined the Liberty team after graduating from Samford in 2024. Originally an intern, he returned full-time with a passion for personalized care. He lives with his wife Stephanie and their two cats, and enjoys cooking and playing ultimate frisbee.
Jim Parekh
Pharm. D. / Founder
Jim is originally from Guntersville, AL and earned his pharmacy degree from Samford in 2000. After years of experience in hospital and retail pharmacy, he opened Liberty Pharmacy in 2017. Jim lives in Birmingham with his wife Palavi and their two sons, Akash and Rohan. When not at the pharmacy, he enjoys gardening, exercising, and traveling.
Kacey Todd
Pharm. D.
A Kentucky native, Kacey moved to Birmingham to attend Samford’s pharmacy school, graduating in 2015. She and her husband Grant have three kids and are active members of Mountain Brook Baptist Church. Kacey brings warmth and empathy to every patient interaction.
Aileen Giddens
RPH
Originally from Fort Lauderdale, Aileen moved to Birmingham in 1990 and has been serving patients with wisdom and care ever since. She’s a dedicated pharmacist and a loving grandmother who enjoys cooking and attending Bible study.
Niki Brown
Pharmacy Technician
Niki has been part of the pharmacy field since 2009 and joined Liberty in 2017. She and her husband Jamie enjoy weekend motorcycle rides and are proud parents of two sons serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Kinley Crump
Pharmacy Technician
Kinley joined Liberty in 2021. A Trussville native, she lives in Oak Grove with her husband Payne and their dog Nova. She’s a talented baker and aspiring photographer with a heart for customer care.
Hannah Kirkland
Pharmacy Technician
Hailing from Blount County, Hannah brings hospital pharmacy experience and a passion for people. She’s known for her calm, compassionate presence and loves spending time with her nieces.
